Who Does What in a Thread Lift at Edition: From Consultation to the One-Month Check

Written by: EDITION Plastic Surgery | Published: 9/29/2026

At Edition, Dr. Daehee Han, a board-certified plastic surgeon, handles a thread lift from diagnosis and design to the procedure and the one-month check; Dr. Jaehoon Jang handles skin treatments.

At Edition, a thread lift is planned and performed by Dr. Dae-hee Han, the clinic's representative director and a board-certified plastic surgeon. He carries out the consultation and diagnosis, designs the direction and placement of the threads, performs the procedure and reviews progress at the follow-up visit at around one month. Skin and injectable treatments are handled separately by Dr. Jaehoon Jang.

This page sets out that sequence step by step: who is involved at each stage, what happens there, and what is decided before the procedure day.

One surgeon, Dr. Dae-hee Han, is responsible for a thread lift at Edition from the first assessment to the one-month check. The consultation separates the causes of sagging and places the thread lift within the range of lifting options the clinic offers. The design is fixed before the procedure, the procedure follows it, and any skin or injectable treatment that the diagnosis calls for is handled by Dr. Jaehoon Jang.

Who is responsible for a thread lift at Edition?

Thread lifting at Edition is the responsibility of Dr. Dae-hee Han. He obtained his medical licence in 2009 and his plastic surgery specialist certification in 2014, and holds a master's degree from Ajou University School of Medicine. Skin and injectable treatments, including radiofrequency and skin boosters where they are relevant, are handled by Dr. Jaehoon Jang.

In practice, the person who assesses your face at the consultation is the same person who performs the thread lift and reviews it afterwards.

What happens at the consultation?

The consultation, which takes around twenty to thirty minutes, begins with the cause of the change. Sagging is separated into three possibilities: reduced elasticity of the skin itself, a shift in the position of fat, and loosening of the retaining ligaments that hold tissue in place. Previous treatments such as filler, fat grafting or earlier threads are reviewed at the same time.

The consultation also asks whether a thread lift suits the face at all. Where volume loss, and not sagging, is the main concern, around the nasolabial folds for example, lifting may not be the answer, and volume restoration is considered instead.

Which lifting options are discussed at Edition?

Edition offers lifting in several steps matched to the degree of sagging, and the consultation places the thread lift within that range. Threads can reposition soft tissue, but they cannot reduce skin that has stretched, so the extent of excess skin is one of the things assessed.

Advanced, with excess skinFaceliftWider incision; excess skin is removed

How is the thread lift designed?

The design follows the diagnosis. The thread is chosen for the kind of descent: PDO threads (Silhouette Fix, Mint), Silhouette Soft or Aptos. Direction is set next. At Edition, sagging tissue is moved outward, particularly towards the area behind the hairline, and the direction is checked from the front, at forty-five degrees and in profile. Lifting tissue straight upward can gather it over the cheekbones and make the mid-face look fuller, which the design takes into account.

The number of threads is set at this stage as well. The average across the whole face is around fourteen, and that figure is a reference adjusted to the degree of sagging and the goal.

Is the plan decided in advance or on the day?

In advance. Thread type, placement, direction and number are set during the analysis and design stage, and photographs are taken as a baseline. On the day, the thread lift is carried out as designed. The plan is not expanded in the procedure room; if a change seems necessary, it returns to consultation.

The procedure itself takes around fifteen to twenty minutes. Local anaesthesia is the standard approach, and short sedation can be added to reduce discomfort; whether it is used is decided at consultation.

What happens after the procedure?

Aftercare is explained before you leave. Work, face washing and light make-up are possible from the next day, swelling and tightness settle over three to seven days, and temporary unevenness mostly improves within one to two weeks. Progress is reviewed by Dr. Han at around one month. Edition does not set a fixed schedule for repeat procedures; any later retouch is decided according to the condition of the face at the time. The result and how long it lasts vary from person to person.

What training and memberships does Dr. Han hold?

Dr. Han has practised medicine for eighteen years and as a plastic surgery specialist for thirteen. He is a full member of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Korean Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Korean Society for Microsurgery and the Korean Association of Plastic Surgeons, and belongs to the society's blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty research groups. His training includes the Chang Gung Craniofacial Center in Taiwan and plastic surgery at the University of Florida in the United States.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dr. Han perform the thread lift as well as the consultation?

Yes. Thread lifting at Edition is planned and performed by Dr. Dae-hee Han, who also reviews progress at the follow-up visit at around one month.

Will the consultation lead to surgery?

The method is matched to the cause and degree of sagging. Where sagging is early to moderate and there is little excess skin, a thread lift alone is often enough; a surgical option is discussed when the examination finds something threads cannot address, such as considerable excess skin.

Who handles skin treatments such as radiofrequency?

Dr. Jaehoon Jang handles skin and injectable treatments at Edition. Whether any of them is relevant to your case follows from the diagnosis.

Is the number of threads decided on the day?

No. It is set during the design stage, before the procedure, and the plan is carried out as designed.

Can a thread lift make my cheekbones smaller?

No. Cheekbone size is a matter of bone, which a thread lift does not change. What the lift direction affects is whether soft tissue gathers over the mid-face.
