We set the crease low so that it does not stand out when the eyes are open, and instead design it to increase how much of the iris is visible. Men often have thicker eyelids and a shorter distance between the eyebrows and the eyes, so a crease set at the same height as for women can look heavy. We determine the height by also looking at the angle of the outer corner and the distance to the eyebrow.

If weak eye-opening strength is the cause, we can consider approaching it through ptosis correction to increase how much of the iris is visible without creating a crease. However, a shallow fold may form during the correction, so how far it can go without a crease is judged by looking at eyelid thickness.

When the crease is set low, it is hidden by the eyelid when the eyes are open, reducing how visible it is. However, how much it shows varies with eyelid thickness and eyebrow position, so we check directly and design the height that will look least noticeable on your face.

If the eyelid is not very thick and there is little sagging, a crease can be created without an incision. Conversely, if the upper eyelid is thick with a lot of fat, the crease may form thinly or fade, so an incisional method that removes fat and skin is also considered. This can only be decided by checking the thickness directly, so we will advise you after diagnosis.

With the non-incisional method, swelling subsides in about 5–7 days, so you can return to daily life relatively quickly, and no suture removal is needed. However, recovery speed varies from person to person and swelling or bruising may remain, so many people schedule it around holidays or vacations. While there is swelling around the eyes, care is needed not to put pressure on the areas where the eyeglass frames rest. When you can wear glasses depends on the swelling and recovery, so we will advise you after checking your eyes at a follow-up visit.

When eye-opening strength is weak, people raise their forehead and eyebrows to clear their field of vision, and this habit can lead to forehead wrinkles. In such cases, once ptosis correction makes it easier to open the eyes, less strain may be placed on the forehead. However, the degree of improvement varies by individual, so we diagnose the cause first.

Correction is considered when a previously created line is too high, uneven on each side, or has come undone. However, the decision must be made after the tissue has stabilized, so we determine the approach after checking when the surgery was done and your current condition.

Activities that raise blood pressure can increase swelling and bruising, so it is best to avoid them early on. We recommend gradually increasing from light activity, and because the timing to resume depends on your recovery, we will advise you at your follow-up visit.

Alcohol can increase swelling and the risk of bleeding, and smoking can slow wound healing, so we recommend avoiding both in the early stage of recovery. When you can resume depends on your recovery, so we will advise you after checking your condition at follow-up visits.

We check the size of the iris, the distance from the start of the crease to the eyebrow, the curve of the double eyelid, the epicanthal fold, the angle of the outer corner, the curve of the lower eyelid, and the muscles and fat around the eyes, then design a crease height that suits your face.
