Reoperation is usually possible 6 months to 1 year later. However, if the initial surgical results are not satisfactory, reoperation may be possible within 2 weeks, before the scar hardens.

Revision surgery is generally more demanding than a first operation, so we first assess the tissue condition left by the previous surgery and then plan accordingly. At Edition, we proceed in a way that minimizes tissue damage.

Due to the adhesion dissection process, swelling may be greater than with the first surgery, but most of it subsides within 2-3 weeks.

It depends on why the line came undone. If the eyelids are thin with no particular sagging, re-fixing without an incision can be considered, but if thick upper eyelids or skin sagging was the cause, the tissue often needs to be addressed through an incision for the line to hold. We decide by looking at the method used previously and the current condition of your eyes.

We measure line height, eye-opening strength, and eyelid thickness on each side to first find the cause of the difference. The correction method differs depending on whether it is only a matter of line position or a difference in eye-opening strength. Because there are original structural differences between the two sides, we first explain during consultation how closely they can be matched.

Lowering a crease that was set too high involves releasing the adhesions of the existing crease and letting it settle again in a new position, so it is a relatively difficult correction. Some trace of the existing crease may remain, so we explain after diagnosis how far it can be lowered before proceeding.

A multiple crease appears when a new line forms without the existing line being fully eliminated, or when sagging skin overlaps. We determine the extent of revision by checking the adhesion and the amount of excess skin, and design it to bring the lines together into one. The degree of improvement varies by individual.

The aim is to make the scar less noticeable by removing scar tissue and designing the new line so it falls within it. However, this is different from removing the scar completely, and how it heals varies with skin type and constitution.

Yes. Regardless of where you had your previous surgery, we diagnose based on the current condition of your eyes. Knowing when and how your previous surgery was done, and how many surgeries you have had, helps us anticipate the condition of adhesions.

It is helpful to note when and how your previous surgery was performed, and when and what kind of discomfort you have had since. Photos from before surgery help us understand your original eye structure, and if you have records of the surgery, please bring them along.

There is no fixed limit on the number of surgeries, but each repeat surgery adds adhesions and tissue damage, reducing the margin available to work with. That is why we often recommend correcting everything at once after the tissue has stabilized, rather than rushing into the next surgery. We explain what is possible in your current condition after diagnosis.

Sutures are usually removed around day 7. Because the process involves releasing adhesions, early swelling may be greater and recovery slower than after a first surgery. Recovery speed varies from person to person, and swelling, bruising, and asymmetry may occur, so follow-up is necessary.

When the previous surgery was limited in scope, adhesions are not severe, and the eyelids are thin, adjustment without an incision is sometimes possible. However, if adhesions need to be released, an incisional approach is required for accurate correction. We decide after checking the degree of adhesion through diagnosis.

If, after surgery, your eye-opening strength is still insufficient and you still look drowsy, or conversely the eyes are overcorrected and unbalanced, we consider readjustment. However, it is difficult to judge while swelling remains, so we measure again after the tissue has stabilized before deciding.

It takes several weeks for the adhesion sites to soften and the shape to stabilize, and the final shape takes longer.
