Frequently Asked Questions
Can a crooked nose surgery also resolve nasal congestion?
Yes, septal correction can be performed concurrently to improve breathing function. Nasal valve correction is also performed if necessary.
Can a crooked nose become crooked again after surgery?
Structural correction minimizes the possibility of recurrence. Both bone and cartilage are corrected to maintain stable results.
Is insurance applicable?
If functional issues (deviated septum) are present, that portion may be covered by insurance. We will inform you during the consultation.
How do I know whether my crooked nose is caused by bone or cartilage?
A crooked nasal bone, a crooked septal cartilage, and a nose that looks crooked because of differences in soft tissue thickness are each different. They cannot be distinguished from the outside, so we check the degree of deviation of the nasal bones and septum with 3D CT before deciding on the correction method.
My nose is crooked but breathing is not uncomfortable. Do I still need an examination?
Some people do not notice any symptoms even when the septum is deviated. However, correcting the outer line requires looking at the internal structure as well, so we recommend a 3D CT scan. Depending on the results, we decide whether to perform only cosmetic correction or functional correction as well.
I once injured my nose in an accident. Could it have become crooked then?
If the bone heals out of alignment after a fracture, the nose may look crooked, and in some cases the airway is narrowed as well. Even if a long time has passed, 3D CT can confirm the fracture site and the condition of the septum so the extent of correction can be determined.
Is an osteotomy always necessary?
If the deviation is in the nasal bones, an osteotomy is needed to reposition the bones. On the other hand, if the septum or soft tissue is the main cause, correction is sometimes done without an osteotomy. We decide after calculating the extent and angle of the osteotomy through 3D CT analysis.
Will correcting a crooked nose also improve facial asymmetry?
Because the nose sits on the center line of the face, a straight nose can be expected to make the face look more balanced. However, asymmetry of the facial bone structure itself is not changed by nose surgery, and the degree of change varies from person to person.
I have both a crooked nose and a hump. Can both be corrected at once?
A crooked nose and a hump often occur together, and the nasal bone deviation is often corrected while the dorsum is refined. Because the design differs depending on what is prioritized, we decide the order after 3D CT analysis.
My nose is severely crooked. Can it be made completely straight?
How much can be corrected depends on the cause and degree of the deviation and the condition of the tissue, so it is difficult to give a single answer. After checking with 3D CT, we explain during your consultation how far correction is possible, and results vary by individual.
How is it different from having rhinoplasty and septal surgery separately?
Having them separately means going through anesthesia and recovery twice. Performing osteotomy and septal correction together in a single surgery reduces that process to once, and allows the internal structure and the external line to be designed together.
How long does crooked nose correction take, and what anesthesia is used?
The surgery takes about 1 to 2 hours and is performed under sedation. About 2 to 3 follow-up visits are needed, and no hospitalization is required. This may vary depending on the scope of correction.
How long is the recovery period after crooked nose correction?
Sutures are removed after about 7 days, and returning to daily life takes about 7 to 14 days. Because the surgery involves bone, swelling and bruising may occur, and their degree and duration vary from person to person.
How is aftercare and follow-up handled after crooked nose correction?
Regular follow-up takes place at 1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery, and in between you can ask about your progress via WhatsApp. We check at each stage how the osteotomy site is settling.
What side effects can occur with crooked nose correction?
Bleeding, infection, swelling, asymmetry, recurrent deviation, and other issues may occur, and their degree varies from person to person. Please decide after a thorough consultation.
How is the cost of crooked nose correction explained?
It depends on the extent of correction and whether functional surgery is included. Once the plan is set through 3D CT diagnosis and consultation, our consultation manager will explain the cost, and for any part that qualifies as a medical condition, we will also check whether insurance applies.
