Frequently Asked Questions
Does low nose surgery look unnatural?
Edition analyzes overall facial proportions to design a natural, non-excessive height. We prioritize harmony between the nasal tip and bridge, not just height.
Won't the implant be noticeable?
Custom implants are created and inserted to match the skin thickness and nasal bone shape, resulting in natural outcomes.
What is the recovery period after surgery?
Splint removal takes about 5-7 days, and returning to daily life takes about 7-10 days. Most swelling subsides within 1-2 weeks.
How do you determine whether I have a low nose?
Rather than the absolute height of the bridge, we look at the line from the forehead to the bridge, the height of the tip, and the three-dimensionality the nose brings to overall facial proportions. A wide alar base can make the nose look relatively low, so we make a judgment after checking the nasal bones and cartilage with 3D CT.
Do I only need my nasal bridge raised, or should the tip be done too?
Raising only the bridge can make its connection to the tip look unnatural, so the height and angle of the bridge and tip are often adjusted together. For the tip, we also consider building it up with ear cartilage or septal cartilage. How much to address is decided according to the condition of your nose.
How much height is appropriate?
The standard for height is not a fixed number but the proportions of the whole face. Using 3D CT analysis, we look at the line running from the forehead to the bridge and the tip, and design within a range that is not excessive. If you have a look in mind, feel free to bring photos to your consultation.
Can my nose be raised with autologous tissue alone, without an implant?
If your nasal bridge is not low to begin with, implant-free rhinoplasty correcting the nose with autologous tissue alone may be possible. However, if the bridge is quite low, it may be difficult to achieve the desired height with autologous tissue alone, so we consider combining a custom implant with autologous cartilage.
What implants do you use?
Options include artificial implants such as silicone and Gore-Tex, and autologous tissue such as septal, ear, and costal cartilage, which are selected or combined according to skin thickness and nasal bone shape. Feel, how the result holds over time, and cost differ by material, so we decide together at the consultation.
Won't the implant shift or show through later?
Artificial implants can shift position with external impact, and if the skin thins, the implant edges may show through. Using a custom implant fitted to your bone structure can help reduce side effects caused by movement, but results vary from person to person, so regular follow-up is necessary.
My skin is thin. Can I still have surgery?
When the skin is thin, the edges of an implant are more likely to show, so we are more careful in choosing materials and designing the height. We also consider using your own tissue or dermis together. Skin thickness is checked with 3D CT and examination.
My nose is low and I also have nasal congestion. Can both be treated in one surgery?
Yes. When a narrow nasal valve causes the area above the tip to look sunken, the bridge often appears low as well, so functional and cosmetic correction can be performed together in a single surgery. If your condition qualifies as a medical diagnosis, insurance coverage may apply depending on the terms of your private medical insurance.
My nose is low. Can't I just use filler?
The shape created by dissolving threads and filler tends to emphasize only the length of the bridge rather than the three-dimensional definition of the tip. A well-defined nose requires the tip to be positioned in a way that brings out that definition in proportion to the face. We will advise you during the consultation on which method is right for you.
How long does augmentation rhinoplasty for a low nose take, and what kind of anesthesia is used?
The surgery takes about 1 to 2 hours and is performed under sedation. About 2 to 3 follow-up visits are needed, and no hospitalization is required.
How are aftercare and follow-up handled after augmentation rhinoplasty for a low nose?
Regular follow-up takes place at 1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery, and in between you can ask about your progress via WhatsApp. Recovery speed and results vary from person to person, and swelling, bruising, and reduced sensation may occur.
What side effects can occur with augmentation rhinoplasty for a low nose?
Bleeding, infection, swelling, asymmetry, implant displacement, and other issues may occur, and their degree varies from person to person. Please decide after a thorough consultation.
How will I be informed of the cost of augmentation rhinoplasty for a low nose?
It depends on the type of implant or autologous tissue used and the scope of surgery. Once the plan is set through 3D CT diagnosis and consultation, our consultation manager will explain the cost.
