Most swelling and bruising subside within 1–2 weeks, and it takes about 3–6 months for the natural line to fully settle.

Noses are broadly divided into low, hump, arrow (long or drooping), short (upturned), crooked, and bulbous types, and in practice two or three often overlap. At Edition Plastic Surgery, we use 3D CT to check the size, shape, and degree of deviation of the nasal bones and septal cartilage, as well as skin thickness and asymmetry, before determining the type. Some things are hard to tell from photos alone, so we recommend an in-person diagnosis.

It differs. For a low nose, the focus is on creating height; for a dorsal hump, it is on osteotomy to refine the protruding bone and cartilage; and for a short nose, it is on gaining length through septal extension. Even under the same name of rhinoplasty, the structures being treated differ, so the recovery course and precautions differ as well.

Overlapping types — such as a dorsal hump with a crooked nose, or a bulbous tip with a low bridge — are common and are often addressed together in a single surgery. However, the design differs depending on what is prioritized, so the priorities are set after 3D CT analysis. What is possible depends on the condition of the nose, so we will explain it during the consultation.

Photos show only the outward shape, but the result of nose surgery depends heavily on the condition of the nasal bone and septal cartilage. With 3D CT (HDX WILL), we examine in three dimensions the size, shape, and degree of deviation of the nasal bone and cartilage, the condition of the skin tissue and any asymmetry, and the presence and type of any existing implant. Areas that are hard to assess by eye or from photos are identified in advance and reflected in the surgical plan.

Not necessarily. If your bridge is not low to begin with, implant-free rhinoplasty using only autologous tissue such as septal cartilage, ear cartilage, autologous costal cartilage, or autologous dermis may be possible. However, in some cases — such as when the bridge is low and only the tip is large — it is difficult to achieve the desired height with autologous tissue alone, so the decision is made after diagnosis.

Yes. Functional rhinoplasty combines surgery for nasal conditions such as a deviated septum, nasal valve stenosis, or hypertrophic rhinitis with cosmetic rhinoplasty in a single operation. Compared with having two separate surgeries, anesthesia and recovery happen only once, and the degree of improvement varies by individual depending on the condition of the nose.

We recommend checking whether the surgeon is a board-certified plastic surgeon, whether the same doctor sees you from consultation through surgery and follow-up, what is used for diagnosis, and whether a post-operative follow-up schedule is set. The nasal tip is made of cartilage and is constantly pulled when you smile, yawn, or open your mouth, so it can change over time. That is why it is important to position the tip at the design stage with skin movement in mind. The degree of change varies from person to person.

It differs. In revision surgery, the scarring, adhesions, and contracture from the previous surgery and the condition of the existing implant must be checked first, so the approach differs from a first surgery. Men's rhinoplasty is offered as a separate treatment category. For men, the target angles for the bridge line and nasolabial angle are often set differently from those for women, so the design is tailored separately to the facial proportions. The specific direction is determined through diagnosis and consultation.

It depends on the type and scope of surgery; rhinoplasty by type generally takes about 1 to 2 hours and is often performed under sedation. When autologous costal cartilage harvesting is included, it takes longer and the anesthesia method may differ. We will give you exact details after diagnosis.

Regular follow-up takes place at 1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery, and in between you can ask about your progress via WhatsApp. Recovery speed and results vary from person to person, and swelling, bruising, and reduced sensation may occur, so follow-up on a set schedule is necessary.

The cost of rhinoplasty varies by individual depending on the scope of surgery, the materials used (implant or autologous tissue), and whether it is a revision. Once the surgical plan is set through 3D CT diagnosis and consultation, our consultation manager will explain the cost.
