Frequently Asked Questions

After short nose surgery, will the nasal tip not rise again?

The nasal tip is structurally supported by septal extension graft, ensuring stable maintenance over time.

Do I need to use costal cartilage?

Depending on the condition of the nose, septal cartilage or ear cartilage may be sufficient. We will guide you to the optimal material during consultation.

Can nostril show also be improved?

Yes, we lower the nasal tip to naturally reduce nostril exposure.

How can I tell whether I have a short nose or an upturned nose?

A nose that is actually short and one where the tip is turned up so the nostrils are very visible have different causes. A wide nasolabial angle (the angle between the nose and upper lip) is considered upturned, and we distinguish them by measuring it along with the length and height of the nose. We make a judgment after also checking the septum with 3D CT.

How much can the nose be lengthened?

How much length can be gained depends on the amount of remaining septal cartilage and how much the skin and soft tissue can stretch. Lengthening too much strains the nasal tip, so we design within a range suited to your facial proportions. We explain the possible range after diagnosis.

What is septal extension?

This method extends the nose tip's supporting pillar downward by attaching cartilage to the septal cartilage. The pillar created this way structurally supports the nose tip and helps maintain its length and angle. Which cartilage is used to build the pillar depends on the support required.

Will my nose become hard after surgery?

Because the support structure is built with cartilage, it may feel firm at first, and as the swelling subsides over time, the sensation changes as well. Feel and recovery vary from person to person, so we check them during regular follow-up.

Can this surgery also address a nose that has become shorter due to contracture?

Contracture, in which the nose has shortened due to scarring and inflammation after previous nose surgery, has a different cause and therefore a different approach. In this case, removal of the existing implant and scar revision are needed first, so it is treated as contracted nose revision surgery. Which case applies to you is determined through 3D CT diagnosis.

My nostrils are asymmetrical. Can this be corrected at the same time?

Adjusting the angle and length of the nasal tip changes how much of the nostrils is visible. However, if asymmetry of the alar base itself is the cause, the alae may also need to be addressed, so we determine the scope after checking the overall proportions.

Will correcting an upturned nose change my overall look a lot?

Changing the angle of the nasal tip can reduce nostril exposure from the front and change the profile line, which can change your overall impression. The degree of change varies with facial bone structure and the extent of correction.

Is it possible with autologous tissue alone, without an implant?

Because the key to nasal tip lengthening is building a strut with autologous cartilage, it is often done mainly with your own tissue. However, when the height of the nasal bridge also needs to be created, an implant may be combined. Which approach is right is decided after looking at your bone structure and skin condition.

How long does short nose and upturned nose correction take, and what anesthesia is used?

The surgery takes about 1 to 2 hours and is performed under sedation. About 2 to 3 follow-up visits are needed, and no hospitalization is required.

How long is the recovery period after short nose and upturned nose correction?

Sutures are removed after about 7 days, and returning to daily life takes about 7 to 10 days. When the swelling subsides and the nose tip settles into shape varies from person to person.

How is aftercare and follow-up handled after short nose and upturned nose correction?

Regular follow-up takes place at 1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery, and in between you can ask about your progress via WhatsApp. We check at each stage how the extended nose tip is settling.

What side effects can occur with short nose and upturned nose correction?

Bleeding, infection, swelling, asymmetry, re-elevation of the nasal tip, and other issues may occur, and their degree varies from person to person. Please decide after a thorough consultation.

How is the cost of short nose and upturned nose correction explained?

It depends on the extent of extension and the type of cartilage used. Once the plan is set through 3D CT diagnosis and consultation, our consultation manager will explain the cost.
